Peter Droussiotis: Chairman and Managing Director
Prior
to founding PGD Strategy in September 1999, Peter was a senior M
& A specialist lawyer and Head of Corporate Insurance at solicitors
Howard Kennedy and before that a Corporate Finance Director with
Price Waterhouse specialising in strategy consulting and mergers
and acquisitions in the financial services and insurance sectors.
From 1993 to 1996, he was the Group Corporate Development Director
at the Minet Group, now part of Aon, a global insurance broking
and risk advisory organisation, with responsibility for corporate
finance activities worldwide. From 1988 to 1993, he served as a
senior legal adviser to the Minet Group of companies specialising
in transactional work and as a director of several principal Minet
subsidiaries. Peter’s previous experience includes positions
as a senior corporate finance executive with Credit Suisse’s
stockbroking arm in London, as an M & A arbitrage analyst with
international stockbrokers Seligmann Harris & Co and as a legal
adviser at Lloyd’s of London. Peter has managed an investment
budget in excess of £250m and has personally completed numerous
domestic and cross border mergers and acquisitions of varying sizes
involving hundreds of millions of pounds of capital expenditure;
he has also been a pivotal member of transaction teams engaged in
multi-billion pound, complex cross border deals.
Peter graduated with an LL.B (Law & Politics) Honours degree
at the University of Birmingham in 1983 and was called to the Bar
of England & Wales in 1984. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society
for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA)
and speaks Greek.
Michael Rossor: Finance Director and Compliance Officer
Prior
to his appointment as a director of PGD Strategy in 1999, Michael
was Finance Director of the Minet Group, now part of Aon, and led
the Group’s worldwide reinsurance operation. At the time of
his departure in 1996 Minet was one of the world’s five largest
insurance broking and risk advisory organisations with 4,000 employees
operating in 40 countries. In his capacity as Minet Group Finance
Director, Michael was responsible for corporate development, international
resources, compliance matters, particularly within the Lloyd’s
of London insurance market, as well as audit relationships and preparation
of the Group accounts. Prior to that, Michael held senior finance
and accounting positions with Minet, Sedgwick, Anthony Gibbs and
Glaxo Laboratories.
Michael oversees PGD Strategy’s financial, company secretarial,
tax and compliance affairs and contributes to client assignments.
From 1997, he has also run his own accounting practice. Michael
has a Masters degree in Social Sciences from the University of Birmingham
and is a Chartered Accountant.
Charles Catt: Senior Associate
Charles
Catt focuses on the development of PGD Strategy’s relationships
and business in the insurance and reinsurance industry.
Charles has enjoyed an extensive career in the insurance and reinsurance
industry culminating in his appointment, in 1993, as Managing Director
of NAC Reinsurance International, the then newly established international
subsidiary of NAC Re Corporation, a large domestic US reinsurance
company specialising in casualty and property reinsurance. In this
capacity, Charles was responsible for the development of NAC Re
International, through organic growth and by acquisition, into
an international re-insurer with managed premium income of £50m
and capital of £100m. During a career in the sector spanning
40 years, Charles has also held senior underwriting and management
positions with NW Re, a joint venture company of Norwich Union,
Winterthur and Chiyoda, and British & European, the Commercial
Union’s reinsurance arm. Following his departure from NAC
Re in 1999, Charles has undertaken a wide range of consulting roles
with insurance and reinsurance sector businesses and is currently
a director of several insurance and risk management companies in
the UK and overseas.
Charles is also an active member of various industry bodies including
the Technical and Underwriting Executive Committee of the International
Underwriting Association of London, the Research Studies Committee
of the Insurance Institute of London and the British Insurance
Law Association. He is also the current Chairman of The Reinsurance
Training and Education Council.
Ted Dziurman: Senior Associate
Ted
Dziurman focuses on the development of the firm’s business
in the insurance sector and contributes to client assignments in
that sector. He specialises primarily in assisting the firm’s
clients in relation to mergers and acquisitions, disposals, operational
start-ups, corporate reorganisations, integration, market intelligence
and change management.
A senior executive with wide experience of creating and managing
international businesses, Ted has over 30 years experience in underwriting,
captive and broking organisations predominantly with The St Paul
and Minet group of companies.
He was responsible for the development of an international portfolio
of businesses for the St Paul in Europe, North and South America,
Australasia and Africa through strategic acquisitions and start
ups, being appointed Managing Director in 1995 and managing over
US$500 million of assets and US$400 million of premiums. Additionally
Ted was responsible for the selective disposals of non performing
operations. He served on the boards of numerous international companies
as both chairman, executive and non executive director.
Ted also spent 11 years as an expatriate working in the South
East Asian and African insurance markets and held Managing Director
positions in broking and captive management companies in Singapore.
Ted is a graduate of Manchester University with an honours degree
in Pure Mathematics, is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute
(FCII) and speaks Polish.
Lawrence Lee: Senior Associate
Lawrence
Lee focuses on the development of PGD Strategy’s business
and client relationships in Asia and the Far East and contributes
to client assignments originated in those territories.
Lawrence has enjoyed a career in the insurance industry spanning
more than 30 years, most recently as Aon Asia’s Regional
Managing Director for Aon Consulting, a role in which he served
for approximately two years, until the end of 2006. Prior to that,
he had served as the Chief Executive Officer of Aon Hong Kong Limited
for just over four years and, between 1997 and 2000, as Aon’s
Regional Director responsible for the development of Aon’s
professional liability and financial institutions business in Asia.
His career with Aon began in 1997 following the acquisition of
Minet Group, where Lawrence was the Chief Operating Officer of
Minet companies in South Asia, by the Aon Corporation. Lawrence
had joined Minet Hong Kong Limited in 1988 having previously held
various insurance positions with Jardine Insurance Underwriting
Management Limited, Lombard Alliance insurance Company Limited
and the American International Assurance Company Limited. In 1978,
Lawrence became the first lecturer in insurance at the Hong Kong
Polytechnic University which he continued until 1980. During
the same period, he also served as a member of the Insurance Training
Board of the Vocational Training Council. Lawrence was also elected
President of the Hong Kong Insurance
Institute in 1981.
Lawrence is currently an Independent Non-Executive
Director of Ming An (Holding) Limited, a public listed company
in Hong Kong, and has undertaken a series of consulting roles since
his departure from Aon at the end of 2006.
Lawrence’s academic and professional qualifications include
Bachelor of Science, Indiana University USA and an MBA from the
Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is also an Associate of The
Chartered Insurance Institute UK, a Fellow of the Life Management
Institute USA and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors.
He speaks English, Cantonese, Putonghua and Fukienese.
Nick Michaels: Senior Consultant
Nick works with PGD Strategy as a Senior Consultant specialising
in Human Resources. He focuses principally on assisting clients
requiring interim, project and change management services in the
context of corporate reorganisations, employee transfers and mergers
and acquisitions.
Nick has held a variety of senior HR positions with the National
Bank of Greece; Railtrack PLC; the London Stock Exchange and Cambridgeshire
County Council. He has particular expertise in organisation design,
restructuring, reward strategy, resourcing and employee communications.
Nick has successfully planned and delivered programmes to unify
teams from different organisations following acquisition or transfer;
managed executive share option schemes; recruited Directors for
a FTSE 100 company; and led efficiency and effectiveness reviews
for organisations of up to 1200 people.
Nick is a graduate of Keele University with a degree in Philosophy,
Politics and Economics and also has a Masters degree in Industrial
Relations from Warwick University.
Wallace Wormley: Senior Associate
Wallace Wormley focuses on the development of PGD Strategy’s relationships and business in the traditional and alternative asset management industry.
Wallace has over 30 years of experience advising on matters involving both alternative assets and traditional investments. He is the founder & Managing Director of OSPARA Limited a private investment consultancy based in the UK, focused on providing independent advice and research to family businesses and institutional clients on matters relating to asset allocation and risk assessment.
Wallace has worked in global asset management and in the capital markets in Europe, the Pacific Basin and North America. Over this period he has held key executive positions in portfolio management, fund implementation, asset allocation, risk assessment and corporate finance advisory with a range of organizations such as Sanlam Ltd. (UK, Netherlands and Switzerland), Sand Air Limited (UK), Man Investments AG (Switzerland), Prudential Financial Inc. (US, Japan and UK) and Fidelity Investments (US).
At OSPARA, Wallace works with a wide range of clients including family businesses and their advisors as well as institutions including foundations, pension funds, insurance and reinsurance companies, private banks, securities brokers and wealth managers. He advises his clients on matters involving alternative assets such as hedge funds, real estate and private equity as well as traditional investments such as equities, bonds and cash equivalent portfolios.
Wallace pioneered some of the early work in behavioural finance, has served as an expert on cases of commercial litigation involving investment management issues and also provides strategic corporate advice used in start-up and M&A situations. He has a PhD and Masters Degree from Harvard University.
Wallace is currently on the Advisory Boards of Heritage Equity Partners, an independent advisor to the unique needs of entrepreneurial wealth as they transition from the role of ‘operator’ to ‘investor’ and the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography. He is also a ‘Founding Father’ of Albourne Partners Ltd.
